Self-Defense Tips Useful For Women

There are a couple of reasons why women's self-defense is a hot topic in the spring.

The month of April is dedicated to raising public awareness of sexual assault and preventing it.

  • There are a number of young women who are graduating from high school and starting college at the conclusion of the school year.

As you are aware, there have been several reports of sexual assault on college campuses in the United States. Sexual violence on college campuses is a major issue, but it's only one component of a much bigger picture. Facts concerning the nature of sexual violence and the most effective ways to fight it are rarely reported in the mainstream media. A lack of interest in self-defense training on the part of women could be one reason for this.

Women's self-defense classes can increase your chances of avoiding rape by as much as twofold.

The statistics

  • 1 in 6 women in the United States will be raped at some point in their lives.

  • More than half of all attacks take place in the victim's own residence.

  • Over half of the victims are between the ages of 18 and 34. Still, 28% of those polled are between the ages of 35 and 64.

  • 70% of victims were aware of their attackers. There are only 30% of attackers who are not known to the victim.

  • 45% of all crimes were perpetrated by someone you know whether it was a buddy or a coworker.

  • 25% percent of the crimes are committed by a current or ex-boyfriend or ex-wife.

  • More than one individual is involved in 6% of cases, or the victim is unable to recall the perpetrators.

  • Non-spouse relatives account for one percent of all crimes.

  • Twenty-eight percent of the crimes are committed by strangers.

  • After a sexual assault, 94 percent of women suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) for the first two weeks following the attack. There are 33% who have contemplated suicide and 13% who have taken their own lives. Abusing alcohol or other substances becomes a habit for many. Many people have difficulty relating to those close to them, whether they be family, friends, or coworkers. In addition, there is the possibility of pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.

Of every 1000 rapes, just six of the perpetrators will be imprisoned. Most likely, the legal system will fail and no one will get what they deserve.

Being a rape victim has significant financial, bodily, and most crucially, psychological repercussions.

Let's get this out of the way immediately. Victims are never to blame for sexual assault or rape! NEVER! Regardless of how you dress, you'll be OK. Regardless of how you act, it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if you're a regular sex user. Changing your mind in the middle of sex isn't even an option. NO ACTUALLY MEANS NO!

The rapist is completely to blame for rape!

Do not have sexual intercourse with a woman who is clearly intoxicated or inebriated, no matter how intense her attempts to seduce you may be. Put yourself in the position of a man. Give her a sip of water if she's thirsty. If you can, arrange for her to be picked up by one of her girlfriends. Ensure she has a pillow and blanket on the couch.

The Good News

The chances of a woman being sexually assaulted quadruple if she fights back against her attacker, according to certain studies.

  • Rape occurred when victims were appealing or sobbing. Almost all of the time.

  • Between 44 and 50 percent of the time, those who yelled were raped.

  • Running victims were raped. It occurs about 15% of the time.

  • Refusing to be subdued, the attackers raped the women who stood their ground, approximately 14% of the time.

  • More than 99% of the time, rape attempts against target victims who resist with weapons like knives or guns failed.

Women who learn self-defense skills have a lower risk of becoming a victim, as do survivors who learn how to defend themselves.

In other words, self-defense techniques for women are effective!
